PoeArtery
Works of PoeArtery are a fusion of my paintings and poetry by Jacqui O’Neill. Jacqui and I met for the first time at a creative writing course taught by a mutual friend in Muscat, Oman. Our friend Yvonne was also on the course. After the course had ended, the three of us continued to meet. We were often talking about “What is our thing in Oman?” Jacqui was inspired by my paintings and I was inspired by her poems. So, we decided to combine our talents to create a coffee table book together, “Inspired by Oman”. Over the course of three years we worked on this project. Together we explored parts of Oman and would spend hours or sometimes days at an inspiring place to soak up the atmosphere. To see it, hear it, feel it, smell and taste it. Jacqui would express her emotions in poetry, and I would take photographs or make sketches to capture the essence of a place. Once at home I would paint. This way we co-created 32 pieces of PoeArtery. Each of us also made one piece that featured both our own poetry and graphic artwork. Our aim has been to give something back to this amazing country that inspired us so much. At the time, Oman promoted itself as a tourist destination with the slogan “Beauty has an address”. This slogan started us off. In 2015 we organised a series of three exhibitions under the title Inspired   by   Oman ”. Each of the three exhibitions featured works of “PoeArtery”, as well as works from other local artists. These exhibitions were entitled, “Time to be Enchanted”, “Desert Dreams”, and “Spirit of Oman”. All PoeArtery works are for sale . Our final objective is to produce a book that would adorn everyone's home showcasing and promoting Oman as a destination to live or visit.
